Integrative Care
Acupuncture improves fertility outcomes by balancing the body, relaxing the mind, and optimizing health for women and men during their journey toward parenthood.
Acupuncture is best utilized to maintain health, the same way you maintain a car to keep it running smoothly. This helps prevent illness and injury so you can "keep running smoothly." One session a month can help restore and relax you, leaving you feeling like your best self.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that stimulates collagen and elastin production, improves skin texture, aids in hair growth and diminishes hyperpigmentation and fine lines.
We use apple stem cells, sea weed serums, hyaluronic acid, and herbal medicine to restore, replenish, and help you put your most radiant face forward.
Each microneedling session includes a rejuvenating acupuncture session focused on balancing the body and reducing stress and ends with a red light therapy session to maximize the benefits.
In addition to acupuncture, we provide personalized advice on lifestyle modifications, stress reduction, and nutrition to enhance your healing journey.
We are an important part of a health team that may include western medical doctors, physical therapists, mental health professionals, chiropractors, and more.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Acupuncture? - Acupuncture is the insertion of hair fine needles along defined channels in the body to stimulate the body's own healing resources.
Does acupuncture hurt? - There are a number of sensations you might feel during the insertion of acupuncture needles. These include heaviness, dullness, aching, itching, or energy. These are related to blood flow and are not painful.
In times of great pain, fatigue, or stress pain tolerance may be lower and the insertion of needles can be more sensitive. However, Dr. Zena takes great care and spends time tailoring each session to meet the patient where they are and to ensure a comfortable, healing experience. All feedback, questions, and responses are welcome.
How long is an acupuncture session? - Acupuncture sessions last about one hour. We strive to run on time so you don't have to wait for your appointment to start and so you know when it will be finished.
Do you take insurance? - We accept some forms of insurance, including Cigna, UHC, UMR, some Blue Shield/Blue Cross, some Anthem, and more. We can check your benefits in our office. Additionally, for many insurance plans have out of network benefits that you can use at The Zen Zone.
Does micro needling work? - Micro needling works the same way acupuncture does - by stimulating the body's own healing resources to create new collagen, elastin, and replenish skin's natural moisture. In addition, micro needling has been shown to improve the patient's emotional state by stimulating the acupuncture channels that run through the face. You can read more about how real patients feel about micro needling here.
* Micro needling sessions include: numbing cream for the area to be treated, a relaxing and rejuvenating acupuncture session, and red light therapy.
Is there downtime after micro needling? - Micro needling done in an acupuncture office is more gentle and more effective than the same procedure done by an MD or NP. You may experience redness and minimal soreness for 12-48 hours. On the day of treatment, you should avoid the sun, sweating, scrubbing your skin, and any oil-based products. You will not need to wash your face.
Can I use my flexible spending or health savings funds on acupuncture? - Yes you can.

I had a reoccurring tendinitis sneaking back in my wrist. It usually takes quite awhile and lot's of steroids painfully shot into my wrist to make it bearable, but Zena got rid of it completely in a day with acupuncture.

I've been to Zena several times for acupuncture for a variety of symptoms. I truly feel it has helped me a lot. Zena takes the time to chat with me and customizes the treatment for my needs. I've also found it very relaxing as she plays a meditation during the treatment. Highly recommended!

Professional and personalized treatments. I really appreciated the time Zena takes to listen, explain and share her knowledge. They not only offer acupuncture but have a wealth of knowledge on herbal medicine and meditation. I liked that the treatment area had a personal, relaxing atmosphere, not like a big medical facility.
